Masterson Ranch in Weed, NM? I'll have to check that out. Still a lot of Old Timers up here who know all the history. i've only been here for about 10 years. I'm an Okie transplant
Ok. So now you know that I don't do things in a speedy fashion. After speaking to some long time locals, it appears that Masterson Ranch was in Sacramento, NM in upper Hay Canyon (Sacramento and Weed are right next to each other). There is a Masterson Spring still there. I know the rancher that has the water rights there and she said she will look to see if she can find the deed.
The spring is in Township 17 S, Range 12 E section 26.
No one seems to know about the ranch or has heard anything about Bat Masterson being kin but you would know best about that. If I hear anything else I'll let you know
I can scan part of the forest map that shows the spring and send it to you but if you don't know this area I don't know that it would do you much good. You can also purchase a forest map from USFS pretty cheaply and find it.
