I like that. Makes me feel as if I have a say about something,,, which I ain't had since I married my lovely bride almost 40 years ago.

Jim, I want to know how you voted and why. Please share.

Both great pics. I like the good look at the period saddle and dress in the Garrett cover.

However, I vote for the actress - soild dove cover. There is lots of coverage of lawmen/outlaws and gunfights but comparatively little on the women.

I also liked the soiled doves cover for much the same reason as Dave did. I know I'm tempting the wrath of the gods but there's a lot more to the West than Earp and BTK.

Don't be apologizing Sue, this is EXACTLY why I proposed this cover, over the objections of several here at the World Headquarters.

Bob, I have a small problem with both. I may be on a limb here, but I've never considered Lotta Crabtree to be in the catagory of "soiled doves" and that surely isn't Pat Garrett.

You've already used Lotta's picture on the cover of April 2000. Why use it again? I'd rather see something new.

Can you find a photo of any of these 'ladies' for the cover? Mustang Mae, Slippery Sue, Boxcar Jane, Ragtime Annie, Midnight Rose, Fickle Flossie, Homely Ann, Splay Foot Lil, Big Butt Callie, Panhandle Nan, Grey Mare, Rowdy Kate, Gizzard Lip, Canadian Lily or Frog Lip Sadie.

Yes, we are considering other images for the cover. I had the Lotta image and we put it to the test. However, the Soiled Doves issue will feature actresses and courtesans and camp followers as well. In that context Lotta works. Bob McCubbin is putting together the photos so I expect he'll be bringing some new, never-been-seen-before images for us to explore.

I'm going with the Garrett cover as it seems more True "True West."

I've always been drawn to stories on Lotta, however I have to agree with Kevin as I don't consider her a soiled dove. So that cover would be Not-So "True West."

Doubt you'll find a picture of her but I came across the soiled dove monacher "Jolly Molly Jolly."
