We've been talking about this in the Ghostly Encounters group. Tonight on the Travel Channel the show Ghost Adventurers will be doing a show about The Bird Cage Theater in Tombstone. Now whether you are a skeptic or a believer, these guys are entertaining. They are three twenty-something know-it-alls who, unlike the TAPS people, aren't exactly polished or professional. In fact there was one episode last season when one of them decided to ignore the locals' warnings and hike up a rattlesnake infested mountain in Idaho. Sure enough there were snakes everywhere, so what does he do? He reaches down, picks up a live rattlesnake, holds it for awhile so he can ham for the camera for a few minutes, then tosses it aside. (Can we say potential Darwin Award winner?) No doubt tonight's show will be a hoot, and it's always good to see Tombstone get air time. It helps promote tourism.

Be sure to check your local cable or satellite provider for the time.

Thanks Gayle,
The last time it was on, my sister called me about haft the way through so I didn't DVR it, I hate to tape 1/2 a show. But I'm ready now...
Thanks!
Kevin

For those who missed it let me sum it up for you. " Dude, whoa, what was that, fill in blank with the sound; ping, click, thump, glorp. Bro! Did you hear that? IT SOUNDED LIKE IT CAME FROM THAT STAGECOACH-HEARSE THING. Dude get under it and act all freaked out. What was that!?! I think we caught the ghost doing it. Dude there is some weird @!?*$ going on. This stagecoach-hearse thing carried a dead man to Boothill every day for years! !@#$%! Dude, let's shoot at the ghost with these capguns, that'll get a response!" Well Dudes and Dudettes, you get the idea. Silly.

And as Kym pointed out over in Ghostly Encounters, if Zack indeed had a blank in that gun he pointed at himself and dared the ghost to fire and it somehow went off he too could have become a resident ghost of the Bird Cage.

Blanks can kill, folks! The Tombstone Vigilantes demonstrate this all the time when they fire a blank at a beer can at close range. What worries me is someone at home might decide to try it!

But then again, someone dumb enough to pick up a live rattlesnake in Idaho, and go down an abandoned mine shaft in Arizona, is a prime candidate for a Darwin Award.

I was in the Birdcage three months ago. In the front, the woman host points out bullet holes and talks about the ghosts for a moment. There was about twenty people, tourists like me, standing a listening. After the short talk the price of admission was anounced.
Ten dollars each to see the rest.......eighteen people left.
So the two of us paid. Wouldn't it be smarter to charge five dollars and get everyone inside? Just an opinion.

We had the same thing happen with us. It just opened for the day and there must have been a dozen people listening to the hostess until she stopped her spiel and began selling tickets, then it was only Maria and I that stepped forward. We had the whole place to ourselfs..... except for the ghosts.

I have been through the Bird Cage about four times. I love to soak up the history and image all the activity in that place. The place seems eerily quiet and to me feels like there is a lot of activity "just below the surface." I have hoped for but never have experienced anything paranormal. But my wife and I introduced Tombstone to our next door neighbors in April. We went into the Bird Cage and my wife, who has a bad knee, sat down for a minute up near the Black Mariah. She said she felt a distinct sensation that someone had put their arm around her, as if to comfort her. She said she was kind of startled by it and decided to not say anything in case it seemed she was exaggerating. But right after that our female neighbor came up the stairs and said "It just felt like someone put their arm around my shoulder."

Last time I entered the Bird Cage, it was $5 per person. We went this year and it was $10 per person as stated. Belle got to see it as I stayed outside. It was cool to see but I don't think it's worth $10 at all.
