On Monday The Arizona Republic reported that Tiger Woods was seeking treatment for sex addiction at a private residence in Cave Creek. When I got into the office someone cornered me and said, "Your wife is a therapist. You can tell me, is Tiger at your house?"

I can categorically state that Tiger Woods is not at my house at the current time. He and I are hardly friends and while my wife is a therapist, her practice is in Carefree.

I repeat: Tiger Woods is not currently at my house.

Hmmm, does this come under the heading "thou dost protest too much"? Now I'm suspicious.

Lee, I have a 12 year-old grandson who is into sports, Baseball and Golf particularly. We play together regularly. Tiger Woods is/was obviously a sort of hero to him, as he is touted as the "greatest golfer" ever (in my mind he'll never pass Nicklaus, even if he out performs him in the number of "major" tournaments won). I've had several particularly difficult conversations with my grandson recently as we've talked about golf, and the "where's Tiger" question.

Tiger doesn't owe me an apology, but he needs to understand that he put himself up as an American Icon (with the help of the press), and now he's disappointed some young folks who really bought into that. That's shameful.
