A good friend, and musician who is also a retired big game guide took this picture Wed. morning of a sunrise in the South Peace Country. I've seen many great ones but I haven't seen a picture that captured one as well.

I am reminded of two quotes I copied from books I read.  The first is from Joseph Kinsey Howard, Montana: High, Wide and Handsome

"The sunset holds infinite promise.  Fire sweeps up from behind the Rockies to consume the universe, kindles the whole horizon, and all the great sky is flame; then suddenly it falters and fades atop the distant peaks and lonely buttes, ebbs, and is lost in secret coulees.  The Montanan is both humbled and exalted by this blazing glory filling his world, yet so quickly dead; he cannot but marvel that such a puny creature as he should be privileged to stand there unharmed, and watch."

The second quote, from Philip Ashton Rollins, The Cowboy:

"Tazwell Woody . . . a scout and hunting guide . . . was with a companion searching for mountain sheep.  The men had reached the summit of a peak the moment before the morning sun rose from behind another peak, and shot a golden pathway across the intervening field of snow.  Woody's companion, with eyes glued to binoculars which were pointed elsewhere, said at that climactic instant: "There's a big ram," and was answered: "Shut up.  God's waking."
