Yesterday we celebrated Robert Ray's 50th birthday. There were decorations around his desk and all of True West went out for lunch. We went a place called Bad Donkey. BBB enjoys the salads there and RR ushered in being a year older by chowing down on a sandwich. Ended the afternoon with a cake and all was right with the world. It was the first "real" cake I've ever made. I was really nervous, but everyone said it was good or pretended they liked it. It did turn out well enough so I was glad about that. Next person in our office who will be turning 50 is Sue Lambert. It won't be until Jan, though.

Found out this morning that some balloons RR got yesterday made our alarm go off in the building. Oops. I guess them moved too much and the motion detector caught them in the act.

Once more it's been busy here working on both True West and Western Shooting Horse. Western Shooting Horse will go out two days before True West. I can't imagine the stress the office would have if we were a monthly publication or even a weekly! Holy moly!!! I don't know how they do it.

Happy 5-0, Roberto.

I celebrated mine by starting my tenure at True West (and it was also the day of the party for the unveiling of the latest Classic Gunfights book).

Hope yours was just as eventful (and fun).

Best,

Mark

p.s. Abby--I'm sure the cake was great. Anything with icing has to be great...

Abby, the cake was truly delicious! No need to pretend about that!

Reb, Robert Ray is our outstanding production manager.
