Happy Presidents' Day everybody! Do any of you remember when we celebrated George and Abraham's birthdays separately? Some years ago, I worked in an office that celebrated each birthday separately. My friend's young daughters also had both days off and she had to work on Lincoln's birthday. I stayed with them and she gave us permission to bake a cake. I baked a cake--from scratch--and also made icing. We decorated the cake very simply and sang Happy Birthday to Abraham and then ate some of the cake. We saved enough so that their mother could have some when she returned home. HAPPY MEMORIES!!!
Comment by Dieter on February 18, 2013 at 8:46pm I also remember when birthdays were celebrated on the actual birthdays. I told the UPS driver today that it looks like him and I were the only ones working. Later, when I went to the PO to mail today's orders, all the mail slots were filled. Maybe we are the only ones to remember even this much?
