Northfield to defeat Jesse James one more time !

The Northfield Historical Society of Northfield, MN, has the distinction of being the only organization to prosper economically from the defeat of Frank & Jesse James.

The weekend following Labor Day, Northfield once more will celebrate the Defeat of Jesse James Days. Once more the Northfield Bank will be robbed, again in another re-enactment. And once more the James Gang will be sent into the sloughs of Minnisota. This event always turns out a large crowd to become a crowd pleaser.

For the hangover crowd, the following weekend the Minnesota State Championship Cowboy Action Shooting contest will be held. About 10 miles west of Faribault in Morristown in the back of Ahlmans gun show. Over 200 Old West gunfighters compete against each other and the time clock. Shooting two single action revolvers, a rifle and shotgun, replica weapons of the old days. Nothing newer than 1890.

Dadgum it, it was the YOUNGERS who were the headliners on that attack...darn James boys always getting the credit for everything while my uncles and cousins keep getting forgotten......

And this is why I, for one, won't be goin' to Norhfield any time soon....Sure as heck don't want to get run out into the slough........
