Last night I had to cry
Because my Ole Sorrel Horse began to die
I saw him lying on the ground
And walked out to sorrow at what I found
I called and called but he just whinnied and looked at me
I tried to help him up but he couldn't even get on one knee
He thrashed and crashed and I knew he was hurtin
Needing to make the pain go away was somethin I was certain
Lookin at the gun safe, I just fell to the floor
But had to shake it off, grab Rowdy and run back out the door
Rowdy and I ran back to the pasture
To feel the heart break was something we were going to capture
We cried and kissed and held his head
Until he relaxed, came to peace and was dead
We walked back to the house hand in hand
Thanking God for our life, family, animals and this great, great land
As I turned out the light
I laid there and thought throughout the night
A single tear came to my eye
As I quietly whispered to him, "Good Bye"
Good Bye My Cadillac
