Official Site of True West Magazine, Since 1953

July 17, 2009
Believe it or not, sometimes we sit around and try to think up appreciative rewards for the creative types who participate on this site. Case in point: this morning our publisher, Trish Brink, stuck her head in my door and said, "What do you think about offering 100 of our loyal website people a lifetime subscription to True West magazine for $99?"

My first reaction was, "Trish, that's just too crazy!" But, as one of my marketing mentors, Wonderful Russ, recently put it: "Every great idea makes someone pucker." Ha. Well, I am puckering, but the bottom line is I think it's a great offer to show just how much we appreciate all of the effort you put into this community.

Let's say you live another thirty years. Well, you'll still be getting True West magazine delivered right to your door and the savings will be about $900 (see why my initial reaction to this idea is that it's CRAZY!)

Offer good thru Sun, July 26th or until gone. Get yours now.

Damn it ! I took the chance that you were gonna live 2 more years when I paid up my subscription a couple of months ago and paid 2 years. Then I heered mention of a $10 subscription offer that I missed out on. Now ya make a new offer when I've already got 2 years paid. . . . Ya gonna credit the $$s I paid on the 2 years subscription against the $ 99 ? . . .

Yes Bob . . I understand . . . just "teed me a bit" . . . . Your magazine is well worth whatever the subscription costs. :)

Darn it - you're off my pay cycle! I get my check on the 3rd each month...if you did this at that moment, I'd be dropping you those funds ASAP.....

Wolfgang, I am sitting here at the front desk at True West and a man who just a month ago signed up for a 5 year True West Maniac Membership signed up for the $99 Lifetime Subscription deal. He said, "I figure it's still cheaper than a lifetime subscription normally is!"

He's right and it's not too late!!

Whut if'n Bob gets to close to a drum set ? . . can't resist sudden impulse for a "WipeOut" . . . He's the "heart and soul" of the magazine. Look at what it wus "pre~Bob" ? . . . then whur is my $99 gone fur . . . 30 years of "pulp magazine" ? :) I figured a 2 year subscription was a risk over my usual 1 year at a time.

Never fear. The way I'm eating, I plan on being here for the next two or three decades and then after that my staff's kids will kick in. As Bob Brink told me recently, "I don't think anyone can kill this magaizine." Ha.
