Always disturbing news when someone passes on in a rather shocking manner. Even more shocking when it was someone that you knew, and in my case, had the pleasure of working with (doing Stunt work), in what thankfully has now been recognized as a top ten Western...The Long Riders. I met the late (boy that feels strange) David Carradine in Northern CA, we were shooting the Train sequence using the Jamestown train...(I had the honors of running across the train cars for brother Bobby)...It had been a long time since we had crossed trails...but our pathes crossed a few monthes back, at a Hollywood Western event...Dang', his memory was better than mine, as we took a verbal trip down "Long Rider" lane...I'd forgot about him having "Horse Trouble" during the filming...a few funny stories were created because of it (but I won't dabble in those right now)...I just wanted to say, Adios Amigo, it was great know'n and ride'n with ya into the West (even though it was the Silver Screen West)...But heck, arn't Movie Westerns one of the thick threads that are helping keep our Wild West Heritage alive?...For David, how about we all go out and pick up a copy of Long Riders (dang' y'all probably already have a copy, right?), and sit a spell, root'n for the outlaw Cole & the Younger Bros.!!!.........Adios for now, Dr Buck Montgomery
