there’s a group of old-timers who meet once
a week at the City Cafe here in Decatur and
they always play the coffee game. Big corn
festival this weekend at the Farmer’s Market.
Plenty of free corn-on-the-cob for all . . . best
thing is, you don’t need to wear your bed sheet or
hood!!!

my wife and i, ex Arizonans, now live in Alabama and we like it here
but the comment was meant to be a slam to some of the racist mentality
that still exists in this state . . . actually in AZ too.
Comment by gus Walker aka the mapinator on July 13, 2011 at 4:12pm Actually, folks i know here are not racist,
but i have seen some racist slurs posted on a few people’s cars.
people here in Alabama and the south are extremely polite
to all. more so than i experienced in my 60 years of living
in Phoenix.
Comment by gus Walker aka the mapinator on July 13, 2011 at 4:48pm Hey, you don’t know how many friends kidded us when we
told them we were moving to Alabama. it really is a beautiful
state and is filled with Civil War history and WWII history (think
Tusgegee Airmen), the birthplace of Helen Keller, many well-known authors,
bass tournaments, a lot of famous musicians and, unlike Arizona, it has a lot
of rivers that actually have water in them!
