Can You Spot The Final Cover on Charlie Russell?

July 29, 2014

We're working very hard on a special issue featuring the original cowboy artist—Charlie Russell. Our art director, Dan Harshberger, has done a dozen different cover designs. Here are the final nine. Can you spot the final cover design?

If the choice had been up to me, I probably would have gone with the one showing the painting of the cowboy on the bucking bronco small and faded on the lower right (at Charlie's left elbow). Some of the other have two many competing elements. One of those, however is probably one that made it, since magazine publishers often show "horror vacuii" ---or however it's spelled, when it comes to covers.

Over on Facebook, I voted middle row - right.  But also think bottom row - right is also a contender.

Let's just say you—Gay—will be pleasantly surprised.

BBB, I'm with Gay on this one. Middle row far right. To me, it has the best background, and nothing will change Charlie on any selection!!

Bottom Row Left.    :)

Bob . . . sorry I couldn't be around while you were in my home area.  See you one day.  Wolfgang.
