It was a hoot to follow Al Herndon across the Wild West last week. He made it home safe and sound and quite happy. Here is his report:
BBB,
Well, after about 3800 miles and 500 or so pictures, I have landed back at my home roost. To say I had a great trip would be a woeful understatement. Again, I am indebted to you and your hospitality and your willingness to steer my travels to give me more western bang for my buck. My trip exceeded all of my expectations and frankly, I can’t wait till I can come out and spend a more leisurely trek.
Please give my best to your friendly staff and thank them for their kindness. It’s definitely TW that has kept my hopes alive for someday visiting the West. I can’t tell you how rewarding it was to actually see some of the places I’ve only read about.
When I returned home, I had time to read your blog (which I will visit every day , now) and the quote you placed at the foot of May 6th: "Everyone who travels out West wants to go down a dusty road and find history, great food and music and come away with great memories."—Stuart Rosebrook, was and is exactly how I felt and is exactly what I came away with.
I look forward to enjoying TW Magazine with a new appreciation and will forevermore cherish the time I spent out West and the new friends I made. If you ever are “back East”, be sure to give me a call so I can buy you some seafood or steak along with the beverage of your choice!
I remain, your loyal maniac,
Al Herndon
