And again, I apologize. But to be realistic, your, OUR, magnetized fascination with the "West" is ground not easily trodden by the weak-hearted. Vengeance. Violence, Dead men's tales. Rusty implements of destruction. These are the things we wallow in.
The fact that you responded proves that you care. For your reason, and your reason alone, you care. That's enough for me.

What is really over the top here is to call Billy the Kid, a criminal and killer, "America's most cherished cherub." I suppose you 'd wish your children to follow his example, and there are no other young Americans who deserved or deserve to be so called more than he. Let's commemorate and even celebrate the the cast of Old West characters, but let's not be absurd about it.
Billy would have made a fine son. If only he had the chance.
