Here is another disappointment for those of us hoping for a blockbuster western. I had high hopes for this one given that Val Kilmer was in on the project. It will be available on March 6, this year on DVD - not in theatres.
I watched the trailer today and it seems like a good western tale, loosely based on the real life killing of Dora Hand in Dodge City. It seems Wyatt had a thing for Dora and he heads off with a posse that includes Doc Holliday to go after the culprit, son of a wealthy and powerful man. The two reviews I read were lukewarm about the film.
The costuming reminds me more of the movie Wyatt Earp than it does Tombstone. I will be buying the DVD and then getting back to my own writing project.

I've learned to take reviews with a grain of salt. If they know a little about the historical west, maybe they're worth listening too. However, many of them seem to know about newspapers and advertising (they think) and absolutely nothing about what entertains audiances.
I look forward to seeing this with certain reservations.I was introduced to the script and a friend of mine acted in this and a lot of it sounds pretty melodramatic and hokey.Still,it's a film about some of our favorite figures of the old west and it's always fun to watch Kilmer.I have no particular reservations about the costuming from what you shared with us in the trailer. It looks better than a lot I've seen.

Comment by Stan H on February 27, 2012 at 8:25am Looks to be standard Hollywood,, but I'll probably buy it,,, after all any western is better than no western,,,,
Comment by Bat on February 28, 2012 at 4:24pm Its released here in UK 16th April. Got my prebooked copy on order. Nice to see Earp's at yet another angle hope its as good as expectations maybe not another Tombstone land mark. Hollywood I hope not to much. Its just good to see another western being released here, we appeared to of missed out on Blackthorn relaese altogether.
I thought Mr Kilmer looked like a picture of an ageing Virgil Earp in the trailer se samples!
