I asked this question a while back on another blog, but could not find it again to ask again, as no one answered at that time;

Question...is what is referred to as "lazy eights" at this link actually EAR MARK positions? The Lazy eight representing a set of ears, to indicate right and left ears marks or cuts?

Looks like ear marks to me. The "Lazy Eight" brand would be the number eight over on its side.

I am with Joe. Those are earmarks. The AZ brand books I have seen note them the same way.

This does have a column that states it is EAR MARKS.
