How the Jesse James Family Treated Their Own Kinfolk

Joan Beamis is a second great granddaughter of Drury Woodson James, uncle of Frank & Jesse. She authored the first genealogy of the Jesse James family, Background of a Bandit, published in 1970 by the Kentucky Historical Society. 

In the early 1950s, Joan went in search of her undisclosed ancestry in the James family. To her chagrin, Joan was not welcomed as James family kin.
