Leadville, Colorado - Where Doc Holliday held his “last stand”

This historic old building is now owned by Life Time Fitness, using it as the headquarters for the Leadville Racing Series. Hence the interior has lots of items for sale related to the bicycle racing series and is considered a retail center for the race.  The front of the building has been nicely redone with new paint making it look quite authentic.  Inside, the grimy look it had the last…

Laredo Town in Kent, England

Laredo Town

Forty years ago John Truder had a dream to build a replica 1880s western town. Today it’s built and what a town it is.  Members of this club continue to work and refine the many facets of this little community.  Attention to historic details makes the town real.   Imagine – true to life buildings, interior and exterior décor - as well as no electricity, phones, central heat or a/c and no running water!

Our guides on this journey of discovery were fellow historians…

Cripple Creek Colorado

Drove up from Denver for a visit to this old mining town close to the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.   This was the Denver Broncos playoff game day and things were very quiet in town. Walked around and took Cripple Creek Colorado.

lots of pictures of the old buildings: especially of the the Palace Hotel and the Imperial Hotel (the two main hotels), both of which were closed – hopefully just for the season.

One note out of history is all the buildings were required to…

Welcome Mark!  I agree, having a piece of history like Little Bighorn would be awesome...  There were some artifacts found during a 2004 archeological survey at Custer Battlefield. Volunteers and Artifacts from Little Bighorn

There is somewhat of a collection in a Museum I found online in Greencastle PA. Allison - Antrim Museum or, best yet... try the real McCoy in Garryowen, Montana at the Custer Battlefield Museum
