Thanks for the good post Dirtrider. Now you got me to thinking.... This Gardner hombre might be kin to some Gardners that had a Ranch over in the San Jacinto Mountains here in my neck of the woods. Might even be the same person. Now I got to do some…

Thanks Francis.... Glad you liked the stew. "Sticks to the ribs "especially this time of year as we get closer to winter. I'm with Jim on the chiles. I haven't heard of them either and would like to try them too. By the way my wife made a big pot th…

Stage just rolled into town with the mail bag Bo. Got the lapel pins. Great job in the design and all that you've done to get them out to us. Big tip of my hat to you Amigo.

That's a fine horse and a fine rider too. I think the Indians wanted the horse more then they wanted Sergeant Tyree. Ben Johnson could ride "Hell Bent for Leather" and made it look easy. Thanks R.

Janet: Oh, I see! As I said, Inez told her grandson that they employed the kid, but saying that "we" employed them doesn't mean Inez was there at the time. I think she said, "We" to mean her family. Then it works. OTOH I do not know when Inez showe…

Janet: You have seen I'm sure that famous picture of cowboys at the South Spring Ranch. I have seen the original of that picture, it hangs on the wall of the Chisum family who live nearby. I have also seen and have copied another picture taken of th…

Hey Steve--I just Googled "Walter and Inez Chisum" and it lead me right back here to your TW page, on which you state very clearly that Walter and Inez Chisum were married in 1887(!!!) So--was Walter Chisum "pretty much" running the South Spring ra…

It's funny to me, that you read a political bent in my opinions of Billy. It does give me something to consider, but I'd never thought of it before. Furthermore that fact that you define yourself as a "liberal feminist" means nada to me w/t this dis…

I think that Billy may have loved his mom, but I don't think that he had a postive relationship with Bill Antrim. As you said, Janet; it maybe that Antrim married Catherine because he had to in order to live with/near her. He may have been a bum usi…

Thanks Gus-I believe he did one or repaired one for Six Gun a few months ago.

I trust that Flying R does. He's got the tech and can turn out a great piece for you.

Excellent post R. Thanks Mi Amigo. Take a hell of an hombre to fill his boots-we could sure use his wisdom now. He was truely a Great American.

Bill Antrim said that Catherine was "married" to McCarty. No first name. So I think Billy was legitimate. I do think that Catherine and Bill Antrim knew eachother for some time before they married and who knows what happened behind closed doors. We…

Thanks Duke (and Roger) you boy's came up with a Great One. I got the LP hanging on the wall in the den. Inside it has all the words to every cut on the album. Hard to top that video. Makes one proud to be American.

Appears you boy's got this narrowed down now. Great info you all posted. I didn't know about the one just south of Phoenix. I was just going to suggest the one in Rhyolite Nevada N/E of Vegas.

I've been to the one in Calico but when I was a kid I think they had one in Old Tucson too when I made a visit.

Town Names

How did your town get it's name? We know how and why Tombstone got it's name. But what about your town?
Take for instance Dodge City,Independence,Wichita and Fort Worth for example. Or Big Creek,Pinedale and Long Valley.
I live in Ontario California. It was founded by the Chaffey Brothers in the late 1880's. They were originally from Ontario Canada. Nearby is the city of San Bernardino. It is named for an Italian Saint. The Mormons setteled here in 1851.

I think they might have me relieving folks on breaks at different posts. I'll be in period costume...not sure if this one you see in my avatar or my new one that's in the works. Lester usually comes too, but this year I don't think he's making it. Should be a lot of fun anyway...I look forward to it since it will be my first time attending...I usually can't go because it conflicts with my Zion trip, but we're going earlier than normal this year.
