Hi Anthony

Thanks for the dubious honor. I signed up a year ago, but have only just begun to post. I look forward to seeing photo's of your work soon. I enjoy looking at period correct gear. The Victorian era has special appeal, since it saw the dawn of photography and a new perspective on history. As for the Old West...I can't seem to get enough of it, prefering 'Real' as opposed to 'reel'.

All the best Anthony

Gary

Thanks for the compliment on my art. I almost feel guilty having so much fun creating it.

Thanks so much, Anthony. Yes. I'll be posting more for sure. In the meantime, you can catch up on what I've done so far at my web site:

It's my Wild West Show of art. Whoda guessed that this Florida native, now 35 years in Atlanta, would turn nearly all of his artistic focus to the west. I can't get enough of it or create enough honoring it.

Anthony I to am a devoted follower of the 1880's clothing style. It's not unusual for me to be decked out in period correct clothing totin' my six gun about the streets of Az. If you have an extra seat in that time machine, keep it for me. And Tombstone is my favorite place to "strut mh stuff"

Thanks, Anthony I'd be honored to have you call me a friend.-- I just don't wanna be a "sidekick" like Gabby Hayes, Fuzzy Knight, or Pat Butram.

I tried several times to send a response, including a picture attachment, to your e-mail about starting a sub-group on Victorian clothing, but, for some reason, I wasn't able to. (Maybe I should resort to old-fashioned communications like the pony express, or, at least, the telegraph.) Here's more or less what I tried to send, minus the picture, which may have been what messed me up before:

My opinions on the subject wouldn't be worth very much. I know something about clothing worn on the frontier in the mid to late Nineteenth Century, but not nearly as much as you apoparently do, and my knowledge of Victoriana in general, particularly women's fashions, is sketchy.

I am far from an "obsessive tailor," as you call yourself; I don't care if an outfit is made of chewing gum, as long as it looks correct from not too close up, or up on the movie screen. About ten years ago I reconstructed a Union soldier's forage cap (kepi) by sewing a piece of dark blue material over a cheap, small souvenir cap that looked more like those worn by soldiers during the Indian Wars. I made the stap and attached brass buttons to bo over the bill, and fastened brass insignia (devices) on the cap's little round top. I wore the cap while watching a Civil War re-enactment in Staten Island, and several of the re-enactors came over to me, complimented my cap, and asked me where I had gotten it. Little did they know that the blue material wasn't wool, but a polyester mix!

If you think the Victorian clothing group is a good idea, go ahead!

Hi Anthony

I have been away from the key board for a while, I'd like to be able to say; I've been time travelling (would be tough on my Wife though) but we have had a new addition to the family. I have tried a few times to type now, but keep dozing off. Always worried I'd turn up at work with 'qwerty' back to front across my forehead!

I think a new forum on Victorian clothing would be cool, count me in. I have added two new 'photo shop' (time travel) pics, one of the Dodge City Peace Commission and one of me with Buffalo Bill ( one on how to time travel and the other one how not to time travel.)

Regards

Gary
