I have recently read an article in a gun magazine, (the article is on line as well),  about an early FBI agent named Jelly Bryce. I know this is an old west forum but found this guy's story very interesting. Besides, the last time I posted, Frank Hamer's name came up and these two guys were of the same era and by accounts both participated in bringing down Bonnie and Clyde. I just found Jelly Bryce to be the real "gunfighter" deal only in a later era.…See More

"There aren't but 25,000 people in my home town, so when we get an 'every corner' deal it's usually gas stations. One major intersection did have a gas station on every corner when I moved here in '77. Now it's 1 gas…"

Wayne Eckard replied to Lee Anderson's discussion Reality Check .... by the Numbers.
"Looks like the old saying "guns are better than money in the bank" holds true. That same Colt would cost somewhere in the $1600 range today in poor shape. A new SAA cost an ounce of gold then and the same holds true today. The last time I…"

"Hi Lee, the movies put it in the right perspective if you look at it a little differently. Most movies have four or five "stars" and named charactors but they have hundreds of "extras" and background people. These extras are…"

"Hi, the Eckerd Drug Chain has all but dried up in my parts too. Rite Aid gobbled them up around here. Which leads to another question. We now have intersections with three, and sometimes four drug stores on the corners. Is this the trend nationwide…"

"Most of the Eckerd drug stores in this part of the country are now CVS. Jack Eckerd sold his stores to the J. C. Penney firm years ago & retired on several millions. Penney also bought the Zales jewelry stores. It spun off both about 10 years…"

"In my parts we have many Eckerd drug stores. I sure wish I had this lineage. I too have seen many different spellings such as Echard, Ekard, etc. I feel certain it is German and have been told that Icard is a variation as well. There is a community…"
