Richard W. Shannon replied to Wolfgang's discussion Something really worth knowing !
"I know this is an old discussion, but I just read it. Now I don't know if it's true, but if it is it would make sense. Not strictly meaning "I'll be your pallbearer" but more a "I'll send you to your grave."…"

Old West Festival Ideas

I have been thinking on an idea for quite some time that I believe would work out well for reenactors, suttlers, sass shooters and more. It came to me as I visited the Texas Renaissance Festival in Plantersville, and the realization came that such wonderful fun and spirit would work for other time periods as well. I have floated the idea to a few folks, with mixed reaction. The idea being a large Old West Festival, with a townscape, reenactments, music, chili-cookoff, and other staples of Old… Continue

More History Closed

Last Monday as I returned from a trip to El Paso, I took Highway 90 as an alternative to IH10. I stopped several places along to way to see things I had not seen in years, or not at all. Among the things I noticed that bothered me are the condition of Judge Roy Bean's Jersey Lilly and Alamo Village outside Bracketville.

Back in the mid seventies my wife and I visited West Texas, including Juge Roy Bean's Jersey Lilly bar. It was still in fair condition, and seemed well cared for.… Continue

Richard: (my brother's name BTW) I admire you. I admire your quest for historical information.......but most of all, I admire your honesty. You call yourself a Scot.....but you are full willing to point out the negative actions of your fore-bears in regards to the Irish. In public! That requries a man with both honesty, AND a sence of ethics. I admire both aspects of your personality. I would like to be a friend with you.....outside this "stage-setting" we converse on....in private. I admire thoser aspects of your personality, because I share them! (can't believe you're not Irish!). My E-mail address is super_guide @hotmail.com.....if , for some reason, you are uncomfortable about contacting me via that medium.....I understand. But DO bear in mind that I see you as kinfolk......Brian Brannon
