Jimena Griffin is a fembot too!?! Dang it that explains why she didn't ask me to be her friend, she found out I was sharing my SPAM recipes with Gloria Wood.

Well the problem with a lot of the old towns here in Arizona is that they usually were tied in to a local resource such as mining in Contention's case. Hank Williams was a prospector who headed for Tombstone when Ed Schiefflen's discovery was mad...

Charlie's Slide

The way I recollect it was in the fall of '84

I was ridin' for the Hashknife brand when Cookie rang the bell

Our outfit slowly rambled in, some came on the run

That's when I spotted him in the last rays of the sun

Off towards the west, high on the rim, he was lookin' down at us

He was on a big dun horse, 'bout 17 hands, a mare she looked to be

A big brim sombrero he was wearing with silver conchos on his chaps

I could not see his face, just his mustache big and black

Even from a distance… Continue

First Report; The "Hike into History" Fort Bowie and the Battle at Apache Pass

Being this was our first “Hike into History” I would have to claim it was a success. Turnout was less than expected, but the one who did attend stated it was the best time he had that whole week.

It was still dark when I pulled out of Rancho del Mundo and proceeded to Tempe where I picked up Flying R and met his lovely wife, Mrs. Flying R. We headed south down the 10 Interstate and had the sun cast it’s first rays around Casa Grande.

This was the first time Flying R and I had met face to face… Continue

The "Hike into History" Battle at Apache Pass Extravaganza

This Saturday will be our first of a series of “Hikes into History”. This is our hike into Apache Pass to see the site of the famous battle between the Chiricahua Apaches and troops from the California Volunteers that took place in 1862. The Apaches were led by the famous chiefs Cochise and Mangas Coloradas and Geronimo claims to have participated in this fight too. The troops were led by Capt. Thomas Roberts

Looking over my sign-up sheet I see, well, it’s still just Roger and me, but, I’m sure… Continue

Odorous Fountain Hills Snake

My Father and Step-Mother live in Fountain Hills Arizona which is an atypical planned community northeast of Phoenix. It was started by Robert P. McCulloch the chainsaw magnet whose other planned community was Lake Havasu on the Colorado River. McCulloch knew how to promote his land sales. For Lake Havasu he did nothing short of moving the London Bridge to his new community and for Fountain Hills he installed at the time (1970) the largest fountain. It shoots a stream of water 560 feet into the… Continue

Mundo's First Annual True West Website Awards

Since these are my awards there is much favoritism and prejudice involved, the only requirement was that you had to be a semi-regular contributor to the site.

“Best Living Historian”…………. Lee Anderson. Lee is a time traveler from a previous century.

“Best Cowboy Poet”……………..Reb. How anyone can tell a story and make it rhyme is beyond me and Reb has a gift for it.

“Best Descendant of a Famous Old West Character”…………Jeff Smith. Jeff’s Great-Grandfather was the infamous con-man Soapy Smith and J… Continue

Thanks for the pard.
Nope. I keep tryin', but our little honey is shy sometimes. She prefers quiet romantic dinners though. Doesn't like candles, I think she does not want anyone to see her. One day she will come out and love the world. And all will be friends and happy campers.

Mundo,

I have one of those Franklin Mint stagecoaches. Have had it for three or four years. My wife and I have moved into a smaller home, and I am selling off some stuff. If you are interested, make me an offer. Mine still has the baggage on the top, but I think they came with a couple of teeny, tiny rifles, which are gone. I will be by the computer until 5 p.m. Central time today. Then I will check in again on Monday at 7 a.m. I would love to see someone get this who would display it. The coach is in good shape, by the way.
