Billy The Kid: The True Story - A Young Bob Boze Bell

Howdy All!       Finished my shift at work the other day, came home and made my way to the recliner to unwind a little and do some channel surfing. Being a Saturday morning, I can usually find some old west related programming. I found, Billy The Kid: The True Story, on Discovery and settled in. This documentary seemed to be from around the 80's.Well, as the show progresses, the scene transitions to the expert's opinion. Thing is, I recognize this expert, albeit a little younger looking.... …See More

New Alleged Photo of The Regulators and Billy Bonney.... well, new to me.

While in Lincoln this past December, I visited the Courthouse as in times past. Everything was pretty much the same as the last time I was there, or so I thought. Then I came across this photo. It was blown up to poster size so I took a picture of it and thought I'd share it here and get some of your opinions.

Trouble with this photo, especially this wide angle view, is it's so grainy and full of shadows. No digital technology back then, LOL. But, it is a "purported photo of the… Continue

Nice suprise on an otherwise boring road trip through west Texas

While on our family trek to New Mexico for Christmas, we happened upon a truck stop somewhere between Van Horn and Sierra Blanca. Nothing spectacular, but seemingly the only gas and grub oasis before reaching El Paso, so we stopped. After a stop in the restroom, I grabbed my caffeine fix and headed for the register. Hurrying the kids along, I lost track of my wife. "Where's Mom?", I asked my daughter. "She's over there. She wants to show you something", was her…

Just Tickled!

Please allow me to indulge just a bit....

It all started last week while I was in Llano for the Texas Proud Festival. I happened to make my way into, I believe it was called, Col. Crow's Mercantile, across from the courthouse. While paying at the register, I looked down to see a couple of issues of TW. One issue I had, the other I must have missed. So I picked it up and was thumbing through it when the very nice lady behind the counter said, "Oh you can have that!". Wow! So, I took… Continue

Llano Texas Pride Festival and RGA competition

Here in Llano havin' a great time! The event was electrifying today, literally! Storm moved through town this afternoon and cooled things off-goooood! The lightning strike right across the river-baaaad! Pretty awesome sight. Anyhow things ended a little early so we went to Cooper's and had some great bar-b-que. Met some nice folks too! Lookin' forward to tomorrow.

Hey Joe,
Welcome to the Blog. I see you standing in front of an authentic looking old
west town. We have our own ghost town on our property in Brush Prairie Wa.
You can check our website www.trinitywashington.com We've recently started a reenactment group called the "Trinity Ghost Riders"...JON COUTURE

Hey Joe,'
A few of the buildings are close to 100 years old. I live in a rural area and people are pretty willing to get rid of buildings that are falling down. I moved many of them and I do the building and "remodels" myself. I've been working on the project for 15 years. I got my love of the old west during
my visits to Corriganville which was located in Simi Calif. Even though it dosen't exist anymore you can still see their website. Many B westerns were filmed there. JON

Hey Joe,
The only person that said it couldn't be done was my wife. She couldn't figure out why/how I was doing what I was doing. Remember this all happened over 15 years.....I add to the town as I find stuff. I'am working on
building a mine now....I always add pictures to my site so keep checking..

It's been a pleasure discussing the restoration plans for Alamo Plaza with you, Joe. I do believe there will be a silent demonstration on the plaza on March 6th, the 173rd anniversary of the battle. It'd be great if you could join us! I will be sure to keep you posted on all of the efforts to restore dignity to Alamo Plaza!

Happy New Year!

Hey Joe. I am a native Floridian and have lived here my entire life, although I wish to call Texas home soon. San Antonio is exactly that, my home away from home. I've just been fortunate to visit the city in March the past two years in a row.

I was introduced to the story of the Alamo by my father when I was a little boy. He sat me down to watch Disney's Davy Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier and I was hooked right then and there! From that moment on, the story of the Alamo has been a life long passion of mine.

I am hoping to make it this March as I've gathered an entirely new reenactment kit and I feel committed to attend all of the Alamo festivities. But it all depends on finances. Either way, I will keep you posted!

All the best,
Wade

Hey Joe!

No problem about the tardy response. Happens to me all the time!

I actually booked my trip to San Antonio today! So, I will certainly give you a schedule of events for early March as time draws closer. I should have the schedule soon enough. It'll be an exciting time. Your kids may enjoy the reenactments. As a matter of fact, one of my favorite parts about the Alamo battle reenactments is interacting with the audience and tourists inbetween the demonstrations. Everyone gets a thrill out of it. All in all, it is a very exciting time. The Alamo Plaza demonstration should be quite a sight as well.

I will keep you posted!

All the best,
Wade

Hello Joe, thanks for be'n my friend......when I read a thing you had written on this site some time ago I thought you were from Llano, but have since figured out you are from San Antonio......I was thinking since you were close in Llano that you might wish to visit my small ranch Northwest of San Saba......I am trying to develop a small western town, and hopefully some day we can have some shootouts there, as well as other activities......I work for a church in Cedar Park as their groundskeeper (12 acres) and plan to have some element of religion to the place also......all of this is way in the future though and I probably will not be able to fullfill my dream, but a dream it is, so I am ah gonna keep on keep'n on and maybe some day it'll happen.....so my point is that I imagine San Antonio is a fer peice for you to be coming to San Saba.......I am try'n to find some folks in the San Saba and surrounding areas that might like to be aware of the project and maybe they might wish to participate with me in get'n the place set up........ anyway talk to you later.......Lethalrancher
