When I was a kid, Boy Scouts wore neckerchiefs. If you can find a scout handbook from the '30s or '40s you might find some more uses. Somewhere along the line they decided to cut it in half. Half the size, surely less than half as useful.

Hello Joe, thanks for be'n my friend......when I read a thing you had written on this site some time ago I thought you were from Llano, but have since figured out you are from San Antonio......I was thinking since you were close in Llano that you might wish to visit my small ranch Northwest of San Saba......I am trying to develop a small western town, and hopefully some day we can have some shootouts there, as well as other activities......I work for a church in Cedar Park as their groundskeeper (12 acres) and plan to have some element of religion to the place also......all of this is way in the future though and I probably will not be able to fullfill my dream, but a dream it is, so I am ah gonna keep on keep'n on and maybe some day it'll happen.....so my point is that I imagine San Antonio is a fer peice for you to be coming to San Saba.......I am try'n to find some folks in the San Saba and surrounding areas that might like to be aware of the project and maybe they might wish to participate with me in get'n the place set up........ anyway talk to you later.......Lethalrancher

Hey Joe. I've got a list of the scheduled events in San Antonio from March 5th to the 8th. Give me your email address and I'll send it along! Adios!

Hey Joe!

No problem about the tardy response. Happens to me all the time!

I actually booked my trip to San Antonio today! So, I will certainly give you a schedule of events for early March as time draws closer. I should have the schedule soon enough. It'll be an exciting time. Your kids may enjoy the reenactments. As a matter of fact, one of my favorite parts about the Alamo battle reenactments is interacting with the audience and tourists inbetween the demonstrations. Everyone gets a thrill out of it. All in all, it is a very exciting time. The Alamo Plaza demonstration should be quite a sight as well.

I will keep you posted!

All the best,
Wade

The lever gun's a Rossi repro... .45LC. 'Bout $400. new. Yeah... it's mine. I ordered the gunbelt 'n holster straight outt'a the Cabela catalog. I think they just call it the double loop. 'Been to Tombstone 'many' times... like 'a bunch'. 'Took 2nd place in 'Cowboy' durin' Wyatt Earp Days in '08. First time I entered somethin' like that.

The Triple K holster 'n belt are 'plain jane' w/o any scroll work... but I reckon that was par for workin' cowboys 'n others of the period. It's a little stiff to begine with... but I appled a lib'ral dose of gun oil to the holster interior 'n worked the leather by hand 'til it got 'loose'. As far as a retention feature (if ya want one) 'Drill a pair of 1/8" holes (one over the other) in the fwd lip of the holster. 'Get some rawhide shoelaces from most any local drug store 'n limp that up by soakin' in gun oil (or most any oil). Make a loop... insert the end from the outside of the lower hole in the holster to the inside... then back out thru the top hole. "Leave some slack so you can cinch it down as desired... 'n tie a loop knot in the bitter ends. The loop will go over the hammer... 'n you've got somethin' left to 'pull on' to adjust tension. I've had this same holster 'n belt for 'bout 10 years or so.

Hey Joe. I am a native Floridian and have lived here my entire life, although I wish to call Texas home soon. San Antonio is exactly that, my home away from home. I've just been fortunate to visit the city in March the past two years in a row.

I was introduced to the story of the Alamo by my father when I was a little boy. He sat me down to watch Disney's Davy Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier and I was hooked right then and there! From that moment on, the story of the Alamo has been a life long passion of mine.

I am hoping to make it this March as I've gathered an entirely new reenactment kit and I feel committed to attend all of the Alamo festivities. But it all depends on finances. Either way, I will keep you posted!

All the best,
Wade

The pig sticker is from Sportsmans Guide... 'got another'n I wear from Bud K... 13" Arkansas toothpick. Pistol's a Ruger Vaquero SAA .45LC w/rosewood grips. 'Hats from Sheplers... 'bout 25 years ago. It's been a pleasure discussing the restoration plans for Alamo Plaza with you, Joe. I do believe there will be a silent demonstration on the plaza on March 6th, the 173rd anniversary of the battle. It'd be great if you could join us! I will be sure to keep you posted on all of the efforts to restore dignity to Alamo Plaza!

Happy New Year!

Hey Joe,
The only person that said it couldn't be done was my wife. She couldn't figure out why/how I was doing what I was doing. Remember this all happened over 15 years.....I add to the town as I find stuff. I'am working on
building a mine now....I always add pictures to my site so keep checking..

Hey Joe,'
A few of the buildings are close to 100 years old. I live in a rural area and people are pretty willing to get rid of buildings that are falling down. I moved many of them and I do the building and "remodels" myself. I've been working on the project for 15 years. I got my love of the old west during
my visits to Corriganville which was located in Simi Calif. Even though it dosen't exist anymore you can still see their website. Many B westerns were filmed there. JON

Just Tickled!

Please allow me to indulge just a bit....

It all started last week while I was in Llano for the Texas Proud Festival. I happened to make my way into, I believe it was called, Col. Crow's Mercantile, across from the courthouse. While paying at the register, I looked down to see a couple of issues of TW. One issue I had, the other I must have missed. So I picked it up and was thumbing through it when the very nice lady behind the counter said, "Oh you can have that!". Wow! So, I took it back to t… Continue

Llano Texas Pride Festival and RGA competition

Here in Llano havin' a great time! The event was electrifying today, literally! Storm moved through town this afternoon and cooled things off-goooood! The lightning strike right across the river-baaaad! Pretty awesome sight. Anyhow things ended a little early so we went to Cooper's and had some great bar-b-que. Met some nice folks too! Lookin' forward to tomorrow.
