I'm a big Roy Rogers fan. His life is the inspiration behind some of my music. So... music is my favorite 'hobby'. I'm also into guns, fast draw, SASS, any excuse to wear the cowgirl and old-west clothes! I'm a charcoal western artist and love doing portraits. I play guitar and mandolin. And of course, I'm a writer... songwriter as well as co-author of the novel TIME IN CONTENTION. As I say... so little time... I want to do it all!!!!
Do you subscribe to True West magazine?
Yee ha! Sure do!

I love the COWBOY MUSIC!!! I haven't been singing THAT long, but I had the opportunity to sing at cowboy venues with the COWBOY WAY SHOW. I was hooked. My problem was finding suitable cowgirl songs that I wanted to sing. Oh yea.... I like the traditional songs like RED RIVER VALLEY and contemporary Johnny Cash "DON'T TAKE YOUR GUNS TO TOWN", but I thought, there has to be more. So, what you see off to the left side, is what I have come up with, SO FAR~! I wrote each of these songs, music and lyrics. I have been inspired with the writings of my current project, a western romance novel, the first in a series of three called TIME IN CONTENTION. Now about the music......... Sorry, but music is no longer available on TRUE WEST.... guess they ran out of space. Be sure and check out my writing partner's TRUE WEST page also, T.B. Burton.

PROGRESS OF OUR NEW BOOK

HOWDY FRIENDS! Just wanted to post a little information on how the new book is coming along. This will be 'part 2' in our (T.B. Burton and Cindy Smith) TIME IN CONTENTION series. We are hoping for availability in stores and online for the end of summer. TIME IN CONTENTION involves two fictional characters (Mollie and Bogardis) telling the 'happenings' in Contention City (AZ), and a few other surrounding areas, from November 1880 to May 1882. We (loosely) base our novels (there will be a… Continue

Cindy not only has great legs, she's a wonderful person. I have had the pleasure of knowing Cindy for around a year now, but it feels like she's alway's been my friend. When she write's or sings you can feel the passion she has for the arts. She is a true cowgirl at heart. Cindy you can't be a cowboy! But the best thing about her is her love for God, Country and Family. It is an honor just to know her.

Amazon.com........thank goodness for Amazon! If you get all three, you may even be able to get free shipping.

As funny as it may sound, Sid Field's books on screenwriting are another excellent resource for writing. Hollywood films are very structured, and understanding how films are structured provides an excellent road map to writing a well-paced novel that is being sold to consumers who are generally more in tune with the flow of a movie than the languid pace of a novel. I am currently reading a lot of Larry McMurtry's books and was immediately struck by how his time in Hollywood influenced the pacing of his writing; especially the entire Lonesome Dove series......Sid Field's books are also available at Amazon (and don't forget to look for used copies sold on Amazon at a fraction of the price!)

In answer to your question about Peoria, its several hours south of me. I'm up on the Wisconsin border. Rockford is a temporary stop-over for me due to this blasted recession. In the next year, I will be moving to the Manitou Springs, Colorado area so that I am surrounded by the Western environment that I love. I anticipate living in Colorado will be an inspiration for my writing.

Thanks for adding me to your list of friends!
