"Does anyone know if the full transcript of the Spicer hearing still exists?  I'm assuming this is the material Terfertiller used for his Wyatt Earp biography but I don't know if it exists in it's entirety. "

Guns from the OK Corral fight

I was just reading the Wikipedia article (for what that's worth) and it stated that the serial numbers of Frank McLaury and Billy Clanton's Colt SAA pistols were recorded during the Spicer hearing.  Are the locations of those pistols currently known?  Is there any documentation of any of the other guns used in that shootout? See More

"My vote has always gone for Quaid in "Wyatt Earp".  He was a believable near-death TB patient who has pretty much had the life beaten out of him.  To me, this matches Bat Masterson's characterization very well.  Val…"

"How sure can we be that the image posted in this thread is a real confederate soldier rather than a farm boy posing with studio props?  Is that unlikely given the extent of his armament?"

New photo of the Lincoln County War's Dick Brewer?

Did anyone see the History International special on Billy the Kid this weekend? The episode included many photographs of people from the Billy the Kid legend and most were familiar and correct but there were two I'm not sure about. One was the alleged Jesse Evans photo that is shown in Bob Boze Bell's "Illustrated Life...." but the second was identified as Richard Brewer. I thought the guy in the photo bore a superficial resemblance to Brewer so I asked my wife (who is…

archaeological dig on site of McSween House

While browsing around the internet I stumbled on the website of Human Systems Research, Inc who did the dig on the site of the McSween house back in 1986, 1987 and 1988. They have posted a brief summary of where they dug and what they found as well as a large PDF showing a possible floorplan for the house. In addition, there are photos of some of the items they found from the McSween era. The most interesting items are a .32 caliber and a couple of .44-40 caliber cartridges that exploded from… Continue
