Ain't had the choice, although, I won't buy garbage.
For all you who have jumped the gun on my "garbage" comment. Try re-reading that comment. I had stated that I "ain't had the choice" Meaning, I never saw it, heard of it, nor had the oppertunity of subscribe. I also said that "I won't buy garbage". These are TWO different, unrelated, statements. Where I come from, we don't comment on anything we don't know......and I didn't.

George Bernhard Shaw once described England and America as being"two similar cultures, divided by a common language". It appears that Texas and Alberta, are following that tradition.....or maybe the Tejano school system has slipped a mite, since last I visited that great state.

Mikey.....normally, I would agree with you totally. But we are dealing with an American icon..... in which case. we have to be "mindfull".

Wild horses, by nature, were ALL, once domesticated....originally, by the early Spaniards,

Naturaly ....there HAS been some mixed breeding from "strays" that have escaped from " bonded servitude" (kinda like your African-American, and the Native Americans, who NEVER wore the yoke of servitude, but now, feel…

Winter has come to Alberta!.......for awhile.

I was out in the "desert" part of our state/province on Monday.....and got casught in a "white-out" on the way home(1700hrs). We went a couple days with "indeterminant" weather, then a "Chinook" hit, and we were wearin' T-shirts for a day. Went to work this mornin' and it was warm.....but about 01000, the snow started fallin' and the wind picked up. By the time I got ready to head home, we were in a minor blizzard(there are five cars in the ditch, right outside my house right now) .(Everyone is… Continue

For General Information

I am NOT an entertainer. I am a mountain guide who happens to write poetry ( because I WANT to). I Hate being on stage. I detest "The Green Room". I have zero intersest therein. Anyone seeking a "gig" should contact my pardner in those three books, Mike Puhallo. He runs, and started "The Kamloops Cowboy Festival". I would be happy to put you in contact. Anyone who has ever gone five days without a shower while gatherin' cattle, or takin' dudes out on a hunt is welcome at my site........ Brian… Continue

Sarge

I started this poem when the pup was alive

Hell, it must'a been ten years ago

But I never could find the way to put down

all the things I thought you should know

"Cause to look at this guy, most people just saw

some big, hairly monster, I guess

One thirty-six pounds of muscle and teeth

seemed to make 'em forget all the rest

But under that stuff, was my very best friend

a guy that I'd trust with my life

His grand-sires had guarded the… Continue

Hi, Brian, I think it's interesting that you list "fist-fighting" as an interest, yet you are a Canadian. The Canadians I've encountered all seem like goody-two-shoes who squeal when they hear talk of guns. Hey! Are you sure you're not an American? Just kidding! Don't get mad! You look like a serious piece of business, so I don't want to get in trouble here. I know you have a tremendous cowboy/Western tradition up there. I'd love to go to the Calgary Stampede some day. Anyway, welcome and hope I didn't offend you. Becky

Hey - I get into a lot of trouble because of saying what I think. Sometimes I get gun shy!! Hope you didn't mind my teasing. I'll cease and desist and try to behave myself.

I don't have a block on things. If it's not nice, I figure I probably deserved it, and if I don't like it I just NEVER SPEAK TO THEM AGAIN IN MY WHOLE LIFE. I'm sure some of them are relieved by that! LOL

I just ordered your book from amazon! I won't hold it against you!! Ha ha.

I gotta get off this site and get to work. Later.

Hey, Brian! I was going to contact you tonight, so it was good to hear from you. I got your book today! I haven't had a chance to really read it, but I will later. I'll tell you right off, I like the illustrations...I'll hold off judgment on the cover until I read the book. The cover is very unique and fun and not all serious serious like most cowboy poetry stuff. I can't wait to read your poems!!

I'll send you a separate message with a contact for me. Sometimes I'm not on this site for long spells...just get too sidetracked and busy. I don't think it means anything that people haven't contacted you though. I only get contacted intermittently. I'll catch you here pretty soon.

Well, I think it was the poet Keats who said, "Beauty is truth; truth Beauty."

Whatever. :)

Glad to see you're still around and determined. Hadn't heard anything from you. Thought I might have to hunt you down and slap you around a bit. Ha ha ha. Ooops. There I go bein' mean to you again!

Enjoyed your book that you and Mike did. I suppose the cover is light-hearted, carefree and happy, like most of the poems. I just have not ever seen a cowboy poetry book cover like that, but it fits fine. Loved the illustrations. Plus, I got a kick out of a lot of the poems.

At first I thought the book was going to be full of cartoons, to be honest. It's a cute cover, but I don't think it probably helped your sales. Covers sell books. Take a look at Stoney's cover. It's somewhere in my pictures.
