I wonder how Dr. Harwood Hinton is doing, and I also wonder if he ever looks at these pages. He is, as far as I know, the living expert on the Chisum family and we have spoken at the Haley in Midland. He'd probably know the identity of this women. Of course the Chisum family had a beloved cook named "Aunt Mary" who was black. Could this women be her daughter? They rather look alike. I believe this picture was taken in Texas ca. 1872/3. I don't know who she is.
