Nice outfit, great hat!
Comment by Bat on July 21, 2012 at 7:11am Thank I had that hat about 6 years, I never really liked in all that time (odd thing it came from Germany! it was rare and was of good quality) I think it was rarity that made me buy it. I never wore it until the other day just before the Powys festival, I had the idea to steam it and make it into a "Montana peak" style
I was wondering about the Montana peak. I almost asked if there were dents on the back as well as the front.

Hi Murray yeah 4 dents in total. You know it was quite strange I bought it because it looked to be a quality felt and the pencil brim was edged with the same lighter coloured material as the hat band. Then I thought where will I wear? with what will I wear it? Its dome was was tall upto the size of brim, so I resided myself to think "townie" hat but it never sat right. By denting it it gave charactor, I then added stampede strings, so I felt comfortable to wearing it as a range hat. Hope it does anyhow!
Looking good Bat.

Bat,
It seems like I invariably end up putting a Dakota crease and pencil roll/flanged brim on most of my hats but this Montana peak looks just right.
Comment by Bat on July 23, 2012 at 11:53pm Hello Anthony, thank you for your comment. I have experimented the Montana peak on several old hats to try and give them a new lease. I found if the crown is not of the right height you feel the dents resting on your head giving a feeling the hat wont fit. and if the crown is to high the hat ends up looking like the nose of a rocket!!
