Lightening with original leather

SS# on this gun shows it made in 1905, so Billy didn't shoot it, but it's well worn, so someone did. That's the holster it came with.

These Lightenings were actually quite popular. Hardin and Garrett used them, as well, it's said, the Kid. They do fit one's hand well. It'd shoot this one, the bore's fine if they weren't so prone to breakage. When one shoots old guns they break, and I've busted a few. I always get them fixed however, but today I'm more of a replica shooter. It is fun, however; to make the old guys speak, some of them have been silent for well over a Century.

What a great piece of history to own the Lightening revolver and its original holster, very impressive!

Thank you, Zeke. Yeah the holster is interesting. The leather is much thinner than it is on a modern holster rig. It is quite light in weight and limber. Whoever owned it (I bought it in a gun show, and the seller had no idea where it had come from.) had owned the rig for some time as he kept punching holes along the tongue of the holster. The final one being nearly at the tip. Even i can wear this rig, and I'm not exactly svelth.
