Share 'where to start collecting western relics'

I've been collecting old original western movie posters for 11 years and want to move into collecting atrifacts, like old  rifles, stagecoach lanterns, etc, anything from the 1800s. How and where do you all start? is there reputable websites to purchase from or certain auctions to attend? any help would be appreciated.
