Lots of great Western historic train action here in Colorado. I'm vice-president of the Ridgway Railroad Museum, home of the narrow gauge Galloping Geese. Check out www.ridgwayrailroadmuseum.org and our two events listed in the coming events section - our upcoming work week gives you the chance to get your hands dirty actually helping to restore Galloping Goose No. 4, paint a historic depot outbuilding, or work on sorting historic archival material. Fun stuff.

We are very close to the Durango and Silverton, and the Cumbres & Toltec (also a portion of the old Denver and Rio Grande system) is also a great trip!

Those of you interested in the narrow gauge lines in southwestern Colorado shuld check out my post of a couple of minutes ago in the Western Writers group about a new book that's coming out in June. It's worth a look. I'll post more about it when it is available. All profits go tothe Ridgway Railroad Museum.

Thank you for the invite. I love the old steam trains as well. They just feel more personal. The Durango/Silverton line and the Royal Gorge trip are my favorite train rides in Colorado. The scenery is so beautiful. They are amazingly, magical places. You can almost feel the history and the voices from the past echoing throughout the mountains.

Hey gang, mind if I climb on board? My wife and I rode the D/S a few years back and loved it. My three year old grandson loves trains so of course I'm getting him interested in the old steam trains and can not wait to get him on one.
