Howdy, I live in Phoenix and I have been keeping the Spirit of the Old West Alive since 1973, I first worked at Rawhide as a stuntman and Gunfighter, now I am in my 21st year portraying the founder of Phoenix, Jack Swilling for the Arizona Historical Society's "Amazing Arizonans". During my 21 years as Jack Swilling I have been to a countless number of schools and organizations keeping the Spirit of the Old West Alive.

I'm new to this group. I'm a western writer - a Brit who has had a lifelong passion for America and particularly the old west. That's my latest novel in my profile picture.

Myself and my Stunt Group, Dr Buck's Wild Bunch, along with Rob Doudell {the premier Gabby Hayes tribute artist} & Hotshot Johnny Tuscadero, Champion Six Gun Spinner, just completed performing at this years 2009 SASS End of Trail Championship Event at Founders Ranch in Edgewood New Mexico. We, as in years past, had the pleasure of sharing the stage with our friend and Legend...Joe Bowman. Please take off your Hat and remember the "Straight Shooter" Joe Bowman, who on Sunday, June 28th joined the Big Posse in the Sky...he'll be riding with many of his dear Cowboy friends, including Roy Rogers!

Joe Bowman~ April 12, 1925 ~ June 28th, 2009

Adios My Friend.

Joe Bowman was a slice of the "Old West" come to life... a fast drawing, Straight Shootin' larger-than-life Texan, who is one of the best men anywhere with a gun. When the "Legend" is bigger than the man, print the "Legend"; when the "Legend and the Man" parallel, it's all the same.

Twice nominated for "The American Outstanding Handgunner Award" - Combat Infantry Badge - 4 Battle Stars - Bronze Stars - Purple Heart and carries a special Texas Ranger Badge presented by a Governor of Texas and appointed "Ambassador of Goodwill" for the State of Texas by 4 different Governors.

Joe has been on longhorn cattle drives and served as gun coach for movie and TV westerns. Roy Rogers commissioned him to make two different pairs of his famous "Boots of Roses" with sterling silver and gold trim; he's made gun leather for Johnny Mack Brown, Jock Mahoney (a famous actor and stuntment) and Sammy Davis, Jr. Sammy bought 2 pair of Joe's famous customized Ruger single action pistols. Rober Duval engaged Joe's shooting and western knowledge for his renown role as "Gus" in Lonesome Dove.

As the Trail Boss, ram rodding the New SASS, WWPAS {Wild West Performing Arts Society},a group dedicated to preserving the Wild West Arts that Joe personified, we intend on honoring this legend at our first national convention this December in Las Vegas Nevada...If you would like to know more abvout WWPAS, please feel free to contact me directly...Dr Buck Montgomery, DRBuc@cox.net

On Tuesday, July 7th, a Legend in the world of Stunt work, Whitey Hughes, did his final "Take" and is now up yonder smile'n that ever present smile of his, down on us. He was not only one of the very best in the business, but also, definitly, one of the most sincere & gracious men I've ever had the honor of calling a great friend. Certain people pass through our life that leave a memory that will last an eternity...Whitey left me with many such memories, and I am forever thankful. For those of you who had the priviledge of even just getting to meet him, you indeed know what I mean. My heart and prayers go out to his incredible "Little Lady" Dotti...to see them together was like seeing "One Person, One Soul"... Adios My Friend...Thanks for the countless Movie memories, the incredible "Gags", and your friendship.
As long as I can take a fall...each one will be for you!

Here's one of my favorite pictures with my friend Whitey...
