WWPAS INVITE.pdfGreat News!... for all those interested in keeping America’s Wild West Heritage Alive for generations to come, SASS {Single Action Shooting Society} has just announced WWPAS {Wild West Performing Arts Society}, as the newest addition to their truly western preservation organization. Dr Buck Montgomery, former Hollywood stuntman and Wild West Show producer and performer, was hired on as Trail Boss to create WWPAS. Not only will folks of all ages be able to learn the Wild West Arts that include, Fancy Six Gun Spinning {can we say Johnny Ringo in Tombstone}, Trick Roping {like Will Rogers}, Bullwhip Cracking {like Indy?...Cat Woman?} Knife & Tomahawk Throwing {like hmmmm….?}, plus many more skills, but will also have the chance to compete in Regional and National Competitions. Since the old WWAC {Wild West Arts Club} dis-banded 3 years ago, no one has had the opportunity to lay claim to a World Championship Title…until now! Additionally, Stunt and Stage Combat for Reenactors and Wild West Shows will be a part of the line-up at the workshops and seminars offered at this year’s 1st Annual WWPAS Convention and Competition, held in conjunction with the SASS Convention, December 3-6, 2009, at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas Nevada. All workshops and seminars as well as the convention will be free to the public {to compete, you must be a SASS/WWPAS member though}. I have attached a “Handbill Invite”, but if you have any questions, or want additional information about WWPAS or on joining…Fire Away! Adios for now, hope to hear from you and see ya on the SASS/WWPAS Trail, “Ride’n for the Brand!”

Pard', I gotta agree with you there...fact is, I'm also working on getting Founders Ranch in New Mexico{The SASS property} lined up as a filming location. Along with creating a Casting Company that will draw from all the authentcally attired SASS members....and, since there are many "Actors" that are SASS members, it makes me think that I may just figure out a way to have them help promote keeping the west alive...Any ideas Pard'?... {do you really have a Caboose?}

HOWDY THERE! I VISITED THE PONDEROSA BACK BEFORE IT CLOSED . I MET SOME NICE FOLKS WHO RAN THE BLACKSMITH SHOP AND A COUPLE OF GUNFIGHTERS AND ROPERS. TOO BAD THE PLACE IS GONE. MY WIFE BOUGHT A INDIAN HEADRESS AND OTHER THINGS FROM THE SHOP AND SPENT HER WHOLE MONTHS PAYCHECK ON WESTERN STUFF. THE HEADRESS NOW SITS PROUDLY ATOP OUR DOOR STOP INDIAN GOING OUT INTO THE WESTERN TOWN THEATRE. MY EMAIL DIRECT IS luckydoggoldminer1@att.net IF YOU EMAIL ME TO THIS ADDRESS I CAN SEND YOU SOME PICTURES OF THIS KNUCKLEBRAIN PLACE. TOO BAD YOU CANT HEAR THE LOCOMOTIVE BELL OR WHISTLES (4) BUT SOMEDAY YOU MIGHT GET BYE THIS WAY. THANKS FOR THE GOOD WORK! MY JOB DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO GET OUT MUCH SO I BUILT MY SMALL TOWN AND HOUSE SO THAT I REALLY BEING HOME.I MISS THE DESERT. MY GRANDPARENTS HAD THE ONLY COMMERCIAL PROPERTY EVER ON THE WHITE SANDS IN NM. IT WAS A EIGHT ROOM HOTEL AND GAS STATION AND TRADING POST. THEY BUILT IT IN 1930 AND RAN IT TILL 1958 WHEN THE GOVERNMENT THREW MY GRANDMA OFF IT BECAUSE OF THE ERRANT ROCKETS THAT SOMETIMES CRASHED NEARBY. MY MOM KNEW THE OUTLAW MR OLIVER WHO LIVED NEARBY AT HIS RANCH. HIS SECRET ESCAPE TUNNEL WAS ONE SHE PLAYED IN AS A KID. HE WAS THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN PART OF THE MURPHY GANG IN THE LINCOLN COUNTY WARS AND WAS ARRESTED AND AQUITTED OF THE MURDER OF THAT BACK SHOOTING SHERIFF PAT GARRETT. MY MOM TOLD ME THE TRUTH ABOUT HOW BILLY THE KID DIED. MY GRANDFATHER MOVED TO NM IN 1920. ANYWAYS THANKS AGAIN!! LUCKYDOGJIM

This looks like the site for me. I've been writing stories of the Canadian west for several years primarily because very little of that is done. It was a vibrant exciting time and place and little of it is talked about.

It's all somewhat lobsided. Even the US West seems to have all taken place in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. Oh, sure there is a fair bit of mention of Wyoming (probably because of the Jonst. Cnt. War) and mention of Montana now and then. If it wasn't for a a few of the writers there would be little mention of the other states ... and almost none about Canada.

Anyhow, I keep pounding them out and maybe someday folks will realize Calgary didn't start because of the Stampede.
