The Dutchman of the "Lost Dutchman Mine" in Arizona was one curious character to me and am reminded of same everytime a documentary pops up. According to one source, for example, he kept sending shipments of gold off to S.F., which the amounts were very large for the times. My interest peaked when nothing was said as to what he did with all that cash. I must have missed something and maybe somebody else has the answer. For all the accounts I've read he lead a very low level life, with a city plot, bar tabs, hikes into the mountains. Hope someone can shed some light.
