They list Herb Jefferies as the only black singing cowboy in movies and his first western listed as Harlem on the Prairie (1937)

Excerpt from the TW Blog: In 1866 Ikard joined a cattle drive to Colorado led by Charles Goodnight and Oliver Loving. After Loving was killed by Comanches, Bose continued to work for Goodnight for several more years and became a trusted friend.
