This Plains Indian Warrior is glancing behind. He wears honors from past battles. Each eagle feather represents a brave deed and the hand painted on his face tells of an act of courage.

This painting is based on a photo from the turn of the 20th century. I painted it in browns and red to resemble a tinted photograph
This Plains Indian wears a feather, beads and trade cloth in his hair. The circle painted around his eye is to give him better vision.

Bear Shield Talisman, 12 x 9, oil on canvas
The Plains Indians would have personal talismans that they could wear as hair ornaments, clothing adornments or hang from their shields, horses, doorways etc.
This painting shows a beaded crystal attached to a shield painted with an image of a bear. This would give the owner the strength and power of The Bear
