I think that should have it's own forum..I would like to keep this simple and concentrate on art work and maybe crafts...

I would like to talk about a wonderful artist who specializes in Indian art...Kirby Sattler. His attention to detail is incredible. http://www.sattlerartprint.com/nativeamericanartprint.html

The work of Kirby Sattler is fueled by an inherent interest in the Indigenous Peoples of the Earth. His current images evolve from the history, ceremony, mythology, and spirituality of the Native American. Sattler's ultra-detailed interpretations examine the inseparable relationship between the Indian and his natural world, reflecting a culture that had no hard line between the sacred and the mundane. Each painting functions on the premise that all natural phenomena have souls independent of their physical beings. Under such a belief, the wearing of sacred objects were a source of spiritual power. Any object- a stone, a plait of sweet grass, a part of an animal, the wing of a bird- could contain the essence of the metaphysical qualities identified to the objects and desired by the Native American. This acquisition of "Medicine", or spiritual power, was central to the lives of the Indian. It provided the conduit to the unseen forces of the universe which predominated their lives.

So, What is your artistic passion? Painting, photography, leatherwork? I used to oil paint years ago but have not done that in awhile, hoping to get back to that some day. I love Western art. I am trying to find time to learn beadwork. American Indian beadwork is awesome.

Absolutely beautiful work..R.. I am glad you are keeping a dying art alive. I hope you are passing along your skills to another generation. We have to keep the old skills alive. So many have been lost.

This is a great group, thank you for letting me participate.
I have too many passions but mostly I'm painting now because I'm snowed in, I love photography, tiny bit of woodworking, little bits here and there and never enough time to really get serious about any one artform. Painting is the quickest so I choose it mostly.

I am mostly doing leatherwork and Native American chokers right now but I started doing charcoals and watercolors. I also was quite good at manuscript Illumination with caligraphy, egg tempera and gold leaf. None of which I have done for a number of years and seriouly miss doing. Time is fleeting!

You all might find a couple of interviews I did of interest, with artists Ken Laager and another with Tony Masero. You can find them on my blog http://westernfictionreview.blogspot.com/
