To all of you folks who would like to be added to the list of interested parties for our upcoming cruise to Alaska (The last frontier) please use this forum to add your Name and e mail. Tentitive date will be July 2010 and will try to coincide with or very close to the Soapy Smith event in Skagway. Skagway is on our port of call list. We have a blog "Western Cruise" and a discussion forum put up by Jeff Smith called "Historic Alaska cruist for True west". You may add you name to this forum, or you may contact me by e mail at cruisetime2@verizon.net or sperlin@cruiseplanners.com. We are generally available 24/7 at toll free# 1-877-724-2483.
Gayle, Yes you may wear your Period outfits. Hat pins should be put in your "Checked Luggage". As of now it looks like the departure point will be Seattle. More updates will follow.
My wife and I sailed from San Francisco to Alaska and back last year, and I must say it was the most enjoyable time we have ever had on a vacation. My only regret was that we did not have enough time in the ports of call to do everything we wanted, and we missed entering Glacier Bay due to heavy fog. I would love to return, but wife is anxious to try someplace we haven't yet been, so count me as a "maybe," but chances are we will be heading elsewhere. /sigh
Thank you for the response Bungalo. I am glad you enjoyed your prior trip to Alaska. Yes it is true about the short stay in some ports of call, but the cruise lines make that schedule and try to get folks to as many ports of call as they can within the 7 day cruise period...I sure hope you can make it. The more the merrier. We'll keep the light on for ya..
Fantastic Odessa, I will be advising of the dates and times next week. I will be blocking off some cabins and will also advise those that can make it what the deposits will be and the total cruise costs...
After spending 4 years up there, with the opportunity to travel the state extensively, plus driving up and back, I don't think I could get the lovely wife to agree to another trip, but I envy those who are going to take advantage of this.
Howdy Bo,
Great question, First of all, What kind of guns? Will they be non operational replicas or a fully functional fire arm? I will call cruise line security to see if they will allow this as part of a period costume. I know if they do not approve how naked you will feel, but either way you will have a great time. I will let you know.. Bye the way, still need that photo of Belle.
You might also check on Cap & Ball weapons as they fall into a different catagory then cartridge weapons.
One other item would be passports and the need for them. Given enough advance notice would allow for those that don't have one to obtain one. Especailly now with the new laws of today.
What are the costs and can a reduced rate be offered for large groups, and if so how many will be needed to be considered a large group.
Hi George,
I will also check on Cap & Ball when I call Cruise security on Monday. Passports are always good to have and I always recommend them, however on any cruise that departs from the US and Returns to the US will not require a passport i.e. Departing Seattle and returning to Seattle. A photo ID and a Birth certificate will be required. A group can be as small as 8 cabins double occupancy (16 People) up to an entire ship charter. A group is entitled to some special amenities such as on board credits, coctail parties, wine etc...In most cases groups are given reduced travel rates. The cost of a cruise depends on time of year you travel, type of cabin requested, age, residency and Military status.
Cruise prices can change by the hour, but once we get rolling and folks start to show interest we can lock in the rates and hold a variety of cabins under our agency name. It is always best to book early and get deposits paid. Thank you for showing your interest.
I will be posting the cruise info next week...
Hi Bo, It is always best to use valid Passport for travel, but in this case if you do not have one, a photo id and a certified copy of a birth certificate wil do. See my comment to Gayle..
Hi Gayle, As I replied earlier, Yes you may use your Passport. The Passprot is the preferred method of identification, however on this particular cruise a Passport is not required, just a photo id and a Certified Birth Certificate. A passport will always take presidence over most other forms of identification for travel. The Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond completion of travel.
