OK, Reb You have made your point about fire, You seem to be going out of your way to ruin a good thing. I will pass the along to CLIA as they may show some interest. But we do have to remember, for every bad story that is written, A good one follows. Thanks for the research. Good debate Reb...
Very true Reb, however these ships are exactly that, floating hotels and safer than most ships afloat. They are outfitted with the latest technology state of the art navagation and communications, highly qualified officers and crew. And before getting underway there is a mandatory Life boat drill and the explanation of all escape routes. These ships even travel during hurricanes and know well in advance on how to avoid dagerous weather situations. A lot of us old sailors, me included, have sailed the 7 seas and thank goodness are still here to talk about it. alot has improved since then. These ships also have emergency routes posted in staterooms along with life jackets. It is a very safe mode of travel. Oh yes, they will know forward from aft and port from starboard and what deck they are on. Thanks for your input Reb appreciate your concerns. Would you like to travel with us?. Would love to have you.
Sorry James, This not the Titanic not even close. The Titanic would be just a dingy to this ship. The weather will be nice that is why the cruise ships only sail to Alaska during the really nice months. The beauty of this cruise is to see the wilderness and yes glaciers, Whales and the beauty of the Northwest. Hope you were just kidding. In all the clients we have had taking the Alaskan cruise, Not one was dissapointed and many want to go again. Then again, I think I would have hated cruising back then. I have seen the Titanic relics and memoribella on display and it scared the crap out of me.. Just defending my territory. Hope you can make the cruise. If you have never been I think you will be in for a big suprise, a pleasent one. Thank you for your input, keeps things a little lively around here. Good wishes to you..
Hi Gayle, Hope all is well. The Economy has killed all of us, actually the cruise fare rate is a good one as it usually cost more to go to Alaska. I wish I was able to do more. The cruise line sets the fare and gives us what breaks they can and we pass that on to you. In order to get the rate they have given I will have to book at least 8 cabins double occupancy. I have about another 30 days or so before I have to turn my inventory back into Princess. I could contact Princess to see if they would allow you the have an advertised book signing on any books you sell while on the cruise. They may put it in the daily paper for daily activities advertising Gayle Martin book signing today in the aft lounge or something to that effect. That way you could charge for the books you sell if you bring any aboard. Or you could just charge the group a fee for your speaking fee. So far I have not had any one sign up. Believe me it is not as bad as "Reb" says it is.. Even during the bad economy most of the ships leave port with a sold out ship, be it Alaska, the Caribbean, Mexico etc...People love to cruise, and once bitten by the bug, your hooked. Please keep in touch Gayle..
Reb, A lot of us old salts have been through the same thing, we have all shared the same water. The ship we were planning to go on is over 115,000 gross tons and since it does not have to, it certainly avoids that kind of weather. A lot of us due to the nature of our service to our country had to sail the rough waters of the North atlantic, Yes (I) we were the little guys sailing along side the Big Carriers and takin' on the same waves. You should be proud of what you were able to do for your country, but that dosen't mean we can all walk on water. There are millions of us who pay to go sea, or Disney world, or a resort, or to a Rodeo, Hey, thats what life if all about. I would suggest you write to the Crusie lines and voice your concerns. You might be surprised. Reb, I am not mad or upset, just defending a position.
Hey Reb, I like the cut of your jeans.. It was fun. I guess once a sailor always a sailor.. I still have my Tats and keep in touch with with my old ship mates. USS McCaffery DD860...Take care.
