A blood war between German Settlers and Ranchers kinda ends with the deaths or departures of the leaders of each faction. At least 18 people died, some shot, some hung and several mutilated. The Texas Rangers took credit for ending the war but in reality both sides ran out of those willing to fight in the open. While reports and evidence were collected, the County Courthouse burned in 1877 and no one was convicted of any criminal acts after that. One of those taking part in the war was John Ringo, later to become famous for his part in Tombstone events.
Bad feelings and the ocassional dispute broke out well into the 1900s.
Texas has always known how to put on a good fued.
