Luke Short is forced into a gunfight by Tim (Long-hair Jim) Courtright around 8pm outside the White Elephant Saloon, Fort Worth, TX., 1887. Much to everyone's suprise Luke kills Courtright, a noted badman and gunhand.

Not sure you aware of this, but in Fort Worth Stockyards same gunfight is re-enacted every Feb 8th @ 7pm in front of what is now White Elephant (original was in Hell's Half Acre). Both combatants are buried in Oakwood Cemetery (http://www.oakwoodcemetery.net) in north Fort Worth about same distance they stood apart on that fateful night. Courtwright died that very night, Short died of an illness many years later and was buried in Fort Worth.
