malpaso....you might try going to:  WILLIAMS FAMILY GENFORUM...you will have to sign up to use it...it is free...enter just exactly what info you are seeking and see what turns up...

Thank you Janice,

Robert returned to England in 1868, he married his childhood sweetheart and set up home in Essex where he died in 1903. I have visited his house and spoke to his GG daughter who allowed me to photograph his home. There is much more i could relate about him here, but its information about him when he was in Texas that is more what i am after. If i could locate the original location of his ranch etc.  Anyway thanks again for you reply..

R H WILLIAMS, THE ENGLISH TEXAS RANGER

by tony mandara

Hello Janice,

I have raed that article, from Tony Mandara, he is a friend of mine who first put me on the trail of RH Williams and took me to his grave site, The article is an abridged version of The Border Ruffians the book the Robert wrote on his returned to the UK.  It is a great insight into what he did on arriving in the US in 1860.  I have a letter that was written in 1922 from a pair of sisters who mention that they had found the site of his ranch and also the owner of the land at that time.  But 3000 miles is a long way for me to go in seach of more information.  Thats why i was hoping that someone from around the Bateman area may be of help to me in sourcing local material

sorry i couldnt be more help..i still think one of your best bets is to do the williams family genforum...genforum queries is how i put my dean/folsom family genealogy back together...took a while, but paid off in the end

Malpaso, go to texasescapes.com & tell what you know, then ask if anyone can help you.  TE has thousands of readers.  Somebody around Bateman will know the answer to what you're looking for.  While you're there click on 'columns,' then click on 'Charley Eckhardt's Texas.'  You might find something that will interest you.

Thank you Charley,

I will do that, and if i do find something i will let you know.

Cheers

Terry
