Hello Marshall,

Can you tell me anything about the photographer, J.M. Kuhn, who took the famous photo of the Younger boys and their sister?

Thank you in advance,

Bob Wood

Bob, here is what the photographer John M. Kuhn looked like..This is from the book Men of Minnesota-MN Historical Society-1902 pg 527..

Thanks Gay for taking the time to look this up and posting a response to my question. Did the book include any history of Kuhn? The photo above indicates Kuhn was from St. Paul but the photo he took of the Younger's shows Stillwater, MN. Maybe he moved, maybe he had to locations. The Younger's photo was taken sometime in the late 1890's but I have not been able to find any additional information.

Bob, the book for the portrait of Kuhn is just photos, no personal history..I have read Kuhn lived in Stillwater, MN through 1882-1897 regarding photography studio, and he was listed on census there..Then he moved to St. Paul, MN and listed in St Paul, Ramsey Co, MN on census..

John Koblas book-"When The Heavens Fell--The Youngers in Stillwater Prison"--Photo taken shortly (a few days) before Bob Younger died 9/16/1889..

Bob, to add to this--Saint Paul Globe-Jan 3, 1897 regarding John M Kuhn's studio move, etc..
