I’ve been working on a project to create a “relatively accurate” portrayal of Wyatt Earp at the gunfight behind the OK Corral. I’ve been talking with quite a few historians, including the folks involved in the PBS documentary that aired the other night. One main point of contention is Wyatt’s hat. Like one of the folks said to me “The bigger the legend the wider the hat brim.

So I’ve been working with a hatter that specializes in hats from the 19th century and this is what we’ve come up with as being “as close as we can get” to the hat that Wyatt is pictured with in the Dodge City Peace Commission photo, which was taken a little over 19 months after the OK Corral gunfight.

Nice hat. Very period coooo-rect :)
Yes, I agree with Wolfgang, very nice hat. Very close to the photo, in my mind. Good work.
HI zeke

I'm a bit of a Wyatt Earp buff myself and have read and surfed the web for years and this is the best and closest hat I've ever seen, Well Done.
I would buy this hat, but being in the UK we get stung for the old import tax which can make a purchase a bit exspensive.
But once again Well Done

Wyatt
Thank you boys, I appreciate your favorable comments. I’m trying my best to separate fact from Hollywood fiction, so the fine art sculptor Greg Polutanovich can create a true representation of Wyatt Earp. The bronze statue will be called “Wyatt’s Destiny” and it will capture that split second that Wyatt pulls his Colt .45 out of his pocket and cast his destiny, on that cold October day in Tombstone.
