Christmas at Old Fort Concho Friday-Sunday, December 4 - 6, 2009

Fort Concho's largest annual event on Friday-Sunday, December 4 - 6, 2009, as the forty acres and twenty-four buildings at the landmark are filled with shopping, entertainment, food and beverage, displays, living history, period entertainment, children's workshops, and many special events.

Over 1000 volunteers make this annual event the traditional start of the holiday season in San Angelo and West Texas. Also ongoing that weekend are the opening ceremonies for the Concho Christmas Lights Celebration, special exhibits at the nearby San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts and San Angelo Railway Museum, plus evening shopping and programs with the downtown merchants.

Each day at Fort Concho visitors can experience the Winter Rendezvous, campsites with hundreds of re-enactors and period traders who bring the 1800s alive with music, drills, and numerous displays. Inside the fort's many original buildings merchants and artisans from across Texas and the Southwest offer many items to start your Christmas shopping. A Food Court will offer various food options; strolling musicians and staged musical activity will keep the grounds lively, and the Children's Areas will provide many crafts and activities free for all youngsters.

During daylight hours the many troops on the Parade Field will drill, ride, and shoot their weapons, and the artillery demonstrations (blanks-of course) will catch your attention.

Grounds admissions are $5 for adults; $3 for seniors, and $2 for children 6-12.
Hours are Friday 3-9 pm; Saturday: 10 am-8 pm; and Sunday 11 am-5 pm.
